Shear Madness Haircuts for Kids opened their first salon in 1997 in Leawood, KS – part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Paula Thurman, being a mother of 2 realized that there was no special place to take her children for haircuts. So she founded one!
At our YOU-Nique salon, kids get the ride of their life, and moms get a happy kid with a great haircut. With mounted cars for styling chairs, TVs and PlayStations, every station serves as a «fun Center» to provide positive distraction and a MAD-tastic experience for dudes and divas. From first haircut to first date our MAD-Stylin’-tists are specially trained to work with even the most daring haircut dashers. Mix in the LaDeDaSpa and the YOU-Niquey Boutiquey, and it’s a fabulous formula for FUN.

Franchise Requirements

Multi-unit ownership preferred but not required. No experience needed in the salon industry. Candidates should be willing to work in a chaotic and fast paced environment. Some business experience preferred, and the owner should enjoy being around children and have a nurturing type of personality.

 

Location Requirements

We use a 5 point system for choosing our real estate. Our salons are typically in outdoor-type malls or life style centers with easy access for parents to pull up and unload children. High traffic areas with a competitive mix of children’s businesses’ preferred. We do site selection with our franchise partners and approve locations.

Training and Support

A comprehensive training program consisting of one week of training at our corporate offices and then another week at your location the week of your franchise opening. At your location both a stylist and a management trainer stay one week to get you opened! Ongoing training and support are always available to new management.
